I•VIII/X

$325.00

The knotting and natural structure of this piece caught my attention immediately. Rather than carving a single light source, I decided to hollow out the interior and open up the natural cracks, letting light glow through from within.

Hollowing it out by hand was time-intensive, future pieces like this will require better tools, but the result was worth it. The light reveals the wood's internal character in a way surface lighting never could.

Specs:

  • Location Found: 47°N 122°W

  • Species: Madrone

  • Sanded: 240 grit

  • Finish: Natural Bees Wax

  • Bulb: 12V E10 LED (replaceable)

  • Switch: Maritime-rated water-resistant boat switch, recessed into wood

  • Cord: Braided
